AMY RADFORD
After-School Program
Amy Radford began dancing at the age of 4 and trained at Redland Dance, QLD under Jodie Ann White. From 2011-2015 she was in the Australian Ballet School’s Interstate Program.
During this time, she was also a member of Ballet Theatre of Queensland and danced several lead roles such as a Stepsister in Cinderella and Tinkerbell in Peter Pan. At 11 years old she was offered a Scholarship at Vienna Statsopera Ballet School but decided to stay in Australia and pursue her passion for ballet in Melbourne at the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet. While there she danced under Christine Walsh and was a part of Mania Gieguld’s ‘Coppelia’ which was choreographed at the Conservatoire in 2015.
In 2016 Amy was invited to the Royal Ballet School’s final auditions and was offered a place at the Dutch National Ballet Academy in Amsterdam for 2016/2017 where she trained for a year under the direction of Jean-Yves Esquerre having opportunities to perform with the National company there.
Amy returned to Australia and worked with Claudia Dean to further her skills and ability as well as becoming invested in helping dancers to gain strength through different methods as well as dancing itself. During this time she started teaching as well in Melbourne to help other young aspiring dancers.
She joined Melbourne City Ballet in 2018 and was promoted to an Emerging Artist with the company in 2019. In 2020, Amy started studying Osteopathy at RMIT and is enjoying being able to incorporate her studies with her ballet background. With a passion for ballet, dance and strong technique she looks forward to continuing to share her knowledge.
